JOB SUMMARY

Ticket Scanning and Conveyor Lift Supervisors focus on supervising teams at multiple lift locations delivering a memorable on-mountain experience through providing outstanding guest service at each of our base area lifts including our conveyors, or “magic carpets”. The supervisor oversees the daily operations, ensuring that at each location, every guest is greeted, and every ticket scanned and verified. They are responsible for ensuring that staffing levels are appropriate for guest volume and dealing with complex customer and system issues. They also assist the manager with ongoing training and development of the Ticket Scanning team.

Shifts are full time, with day and night options available.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Passion for the outdoors and the mountain environment.

  • Prior experience working a front line, guest facing position required.

  • Prior experience supervising or leading a crew highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all mountain winter weather conditions and stand for up to 8 hours without sitting.

  • Ability to handle frequent guest interactions, maintaining tact and high service standards at all times even when busy.

  • Must demonstrate an ability to follow specific departmental procedures and guidelines.

  • Must be available to work shifts on weekends and holidays throughout the winter season, and be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attain and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all products, department objectives, and scanning processes.

  • Cultivate a friendly, fun, team environment for the experience of a lifetime for fellow employees and guests.

  • Promote, embrace and adhere to Vail Resorts’ Mission and Core Values.

  • Assist department manager with staff hiring, training, scheduling, motivating and coaching.

  • Lead groups of 8-12 staff members to make sure all guests are scanned properly and the team provides consistent, friendly, efficient and helpful guest service.

  • Conduct spot audits at on-mountain lifts to determine scanning accuracy rates.

  • Ensure conveyor lifts are being opened, closed and operated as per procedure.

  • Work with Lift Ops leadership to ensure the consistent and correct setup of lift mazes and signage.

  • Assist Scanning Leads where necessary to efficiently troubleshoot complex system, device or ticket/pass issues.

  • Monitor and maintain facilities, equipment and accompanying signage.

  • Participate in department activities and service initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, sit, stoop, balance, climb and hike in and over steep, winter terrain. The employee will reach with hands and arms to manipulate small items with gloved hands; operate a manual shovel; swing and carry hand tools, equipment, and personal supplies. The employee may regularly lift up to 40 pounds alone and may occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee may be exposed to: working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; and inclement weather and mountain environmental conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, and/or snow and ice covered surfaces, stairs and/or ladders.
