The Stowe Mountain Operations Department is actively accepting applications for Entry Snowmakers. Aside from being an integral and productive member of Snowmaking Team, the primary role of a Stowe Snowmaker is to implement daily snowmaking plans while maintaining and operating snowmaking equipment so we can provide the best possible skiing surface for our guest. It takes a special something to be Stowe Snowmaker!


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred.

  • Related mechanical skills preferred.

  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, either noon to midnight or midnight to noon.

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions for extended periods.

  • Must possess the ability to perform very heavy work (defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).

  • Ability to perform physical activities including but not limited to: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

  • Must possess the ability to respond rapidly to abnormal situations in a responsible manner (power failure, etc.).

  • Must possess the ability to communicate directly, via radio, telephone, hand signals and by light movement.

  • Hiking and/or mountaineering experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of or ability to become familiar, within a short period of time, the trail network of the resort.

  • Ability to maintain or learn to maintain Snowmaking equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

  • Visual acuity necessary to perform work and operate machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach or at driving distance and also to perform inspection and maintenance tasks on equipment at a distance close to the eye.
