Job Summary: The Event Senior Host – video/camera operator is part of a team focused on the daily tasks involved in our snow athletic events. This includes pre-event planning, video equipment preparations, event video and playback, venue clean up and providing our administrative team with copy of video as required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations and to create memories for guests and staff as the best mountain experience again and again.

  • Complete familiarity with all Whistler Blackcomb’s event video and/or race timing equipment

  • Complete knowledge of video set up at all our on hill event/race venues

  • May be assigned the responsibility for maintaining/repairing event video and/or timing equipment and maintaining cleanliness of equipment in a proper storage area.

  • Responsible for video equipment and batteries issued at the start of the season.

  • Maintenance of event courses from time to time i.e.: side slipping, shoveling, raking etc.

  • Continuous attention to details involving event safety.

  • Event clean up and proper storage and maintenance of equipment, reporting any equipment failures immediately to supervisor.

  • Expected to be an example for all event volunteer staff.

  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist in other departments as needed.

  • Prepare all Whistler Blackcomb Event Department video related equipment relevant to each event day.

  • Transportation of above equipment – either by hand or by loading transportation vehicles/systems.

  • Film all competitors in their competition run for playback at the apres.

  • Set up and operation of event video and playback equipment at awards/après venues

  • Available for playback for reviewing disqualifications if required.

  • Continuous development of capabilities with regards to specific video equipment.

  • Ability to upload raw footage to YouTube within 48 hours of an event.

  • Some editing of footage may be required for certain events.


  • Must have outgoing, friendly personality and show commitment to exceeding guests expectations at all times.

  • 2 years video experience (or equivalent) required.

  • Must be a hardworking, team player, capable of physical work outside in all weather conditions .

  • Must have an aptitude for computers and electronics.

  • Must be advanced skier or rider.

  • Ski or snowboard competition experience an asset - recreational level or beyond.

  • Any other event experience an asset.

  • Must be available for all of the following dates, with some flexibility for others, for 2018-2019:

  • Nov 21&22 – staff orientation

  • Dec 13 – Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Dec 16 – Park Rider Session

  • Jan 4,5,6 – Junior Freeski Regional Event

  • Jan 10 – Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Jan 17 – Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Jan 11,12,13 – BC Snowboard Series

  • Jan 27 – Snowcross

  • Feb 14 – Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Feb 16 – Peak to Valley Warm-Up

  • Feb 18 – Park Rider Session TBC

  • Feb 22 & 23 – Peak to Valley

  • Feb 28 - Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Mar 10 – Snowcross

  • Mar 15,16,17 – Junior Freeride National Event

  • Mar 21 – Kokanee Valley Race Series

  • Mar 23 – Lawyer’s Race

  • Apr 10 – Mum’s Race
